Feeding curiosity

Costco member Lynn Broughton has great taste. In 2015, she started her own small business called Taste Detours, offering food and drink tasting tours in Guelph, Ontario, and throughout Wellington County.

Broughton, who created the TV series Taste Detours: Guelph in 2018, organizes the tours, chooses the menu and serves as the guide, providing interesting facts about the region’s history and culture along the way. “I’m a devotee of all things locally flavoured and know that everyone has a good story to tell,” she says. “I have the deepest respect for growers and makers from all walks of life.”

Broughton infuses that passion into her business, connecting food enthusiasts to independent local eateries. When restaurant visits weren’t possible, she published a cookbook, developed virtual tours and offered pre-packed summer picnic baskets.—Kristi York
