It's a dog's life
When Costco member Dan Meyer retired in 2017, he quickly became bored. To stay busy, he started a small dog-walking service. “Dogs have always been an important part of my life,” Meyer says. “It’s true what they say: When you love what you do, it never seems like work.”
Meyer’s hobby has grown to a full-fledged family business called The Leash Team, with six employees, five vans and more than 200 canine clients. Meyer estimates that he and his crew walk about 75 dogs a day, taking them to off-leash parks, nature trails and other dog-friendly outdoor spaces.
Throughout the year, they host special theme days and support local charities such as dog rescues and the food bank. And, photos of the dogs’ adventures are shared on social media for the owners and others to enjoy.—Kristi York
