ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT’S NOTE
Summer fun
Hello, May. We are so happy to see you! This is a great time to celebrate a wedding, spoil Mom and enjoy the many outdoor pleasures Canada has to offer.
Sunday, May 14, is Mother’s Day. How about treating those special moms or mother figures in your life to a feast she doesn’t have to prepare? I suggest some of the tempting recipes in this issue, which feature chicken, hot sauce, raspberries and blackberries, and many more great ingredients you can find in your local Costco warehouse.
With the bounty of summer fruits and vegetables starting to show up in the warehouses, it’s the ideal timing for our cover story on Equitable Food Initiative and Fairtrade. These programs help improve conditions for farmworkers and raise agricultural standards.
April showers bring May flowers. What better way to enjoy these new blooms than to come out of hibernation, get outside and see the beauty around us. In this issue, you will find all kinds of summer delights to help you do just that. Recently, I have taken up pickleball, and you can read about this rapidly growing sport in these pages. Maybe an inflatable hot tub is more your speed. Or cruising on an electric bike. Perhaps you’re interested in visiting Mexico by RV. If so, this is the issue for you. The options for summertime fun are nearly endless.
No matter what you do, just get out in the sunshine and take in all that May has to offer. And give that special mom a big hug!
